In today’s society, everyone can and should have the skills to defend themselves. USSD’s process for teaching self-defense is founded upon a system of Martial Arts used by the Shaolin monks that is over two thousand years old.
The USSD system of self-defense is uniquely organized and you will learn:
More than 120 kicking techniques
Over 300 hand strikes
More than 100 pressure points
30 different stances
6 different blocking systems
38 practice forms
108 defenses against club attacks, knives, and guns
Practice drills to hone your defensive skills It is our goal to inspire strength, discipline, confidence and focus in our students, to help them discover their inner leader. I believe every child has the potential to be a leader, they just need someone to believe in them. As a parent myself, I understand the challenges of raising a confident and focused child in an age where there are more distractions than ever.
We teach all of our members to focus on and be present in the moment. In this age of distractions and sensory overload, this is a skill which returns immediate results in all aspects of one's life. Here are some interesting facts about United Studios of Self Defense:
Our members are from all walks of life - we have students, attorneys, doctors, engineers, military and law enforcement all training in a fun, team-oriented family environment.
We have kids that have been training for years that leave to top colleges and universities in the country, thanks in part to the discipline and focus on hard work they learned through martial arts. This is something we take a great amount of pride in.
There are always new generations of individuals and families coming in to pursue the ongoing legacy. It is a tradition in martial arts to pass down the knowledge one receives in their training and many students become instructors, often ending up owning their own schools.
And while the kids have their fun, our adult program is second to none. From traditional martial arts to more modern self-defense styles, there is something for everyone at United Studios of Self Defense. If you are looking to burn major calories, learn self-defense moves and get in the best shape of your life, you must come and check out our adult program.
Imagine yourself as a stronger, more confident individual in the best shape of your life. I want to personally invite you to take advantage of our introductory trial offer, and turn that vision into a reality.
It would be a privilege to meet you and your child to have them step into the wonderful world of martial arts.

I noticed right away Mr. Jenson's remarkable ability to manage a class, creating a safe and welcoming environment, while maintaining an expectation of focus and discipline. The knowledge and skills he posseses are impressing and he takes the time to get to know the kids, meeting them at their level. In just a few months, my son has learned not only a number of self defense techniques but also self-discipline, confidence and teamwork. I couldn't be more pleased with our experience at USSD. This is a studio where belt ranks are earned and not simply given.
I've been attending for about a year and a half now and I must say it is a mind blowing experience that changed my life. The instructors are very hands on in the development of their students and they care. What I have noticed is that they don't have a cookie cutter approach for all the students. They customize their lessons according to your needs. If you come to sign up, they'll ask you specifically why you are enrolling. Weight Loss? More Confidence? Focus? Simply just for fun? They develop lessons according to whatever your needs may be. I have trained under multiple instructors and they all are extremely knowledgeable. If you are interested in pursing the martial arts, this is where it's at.
Good energy. It’s a place that reminds you that you never give up in life and you always choose honor.
My daughter has been training under Master Black's watchful eye for years. She is now 13 and currently a Third Degree Brown belt. She still looks forward to every class! He & his staff have always treated her with fairness and respect while making learning fun for all. If you spoke with her she'd tell you it's a beautiful studio, they have a lot of training weapons, and that she has gained much confidence. Words can not express how good we both feel every time I need to give her a bit more freedom and she says "I know Mom, I'll be careful, I don't want to use them but if I need them I have skills!" I highly recommend!
We started here this summer and my son is so excited about learning Karate! He loves the dojo and Master Black.
Confidence, Skills & Technique, Self-Control - I have learned so much more than this while studying with Hanshi Black. I wish every girl, every child, every adult was taught self defense. Words cannot express how grateful I am for my martial arts.
Great Self-defense studio for all ages and family friendly! Sensei Chris is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Classes for beginners to advanced and they...
Nice people. They have a good community and everyone is friendly. Other students are helpful. Wish I were in town more often, I would love that go more. Great workout too.
